The 2023 Agricultural Census (ST2023) was carried out to accommodate the variables needed for complete agricultural data, which is developing very dynamically, to answer data needs at both national and international levels, and is designed to obtain international standard results by referring to the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) program. known as the World Program for the Census of Agriculture (WCA). To achieve international comparability, the Agricultural Census was conducted as close to 2020 as possible.

ST2023 is a large activity consisting of a series of activity stages starting with planning, preparation, data collection, data processing, data presentation and analysis. ST2023 activities have started in 2021 and it is planned that all activities will end in 2024. In 2021, trial activities will be carried out to update the geospatial framework and ST2023 content, complete enumeration trials I and II, dirty rehearsals for implementing and processing ST2023, collecting metadata on the results trials and dirty rehearsals, data collection for Podes 2021, and launching the ST2023 logo and tagline. Several preparatory activities for ST2023 have been carried out during 2022, namely updating the geospatial framework and contents of ST2023, preparing urban/rural village classifications, rehearsals for the implementation and processing of ST2023 which were carried out twice, rehearsals for the Post Enumeration Survey (PES) ST2023, updating agricultural companies and other agricultural businesses, agricultural economic survey trials, ST2023 kick-off, procurement of instruments, training of main instructors and national instructors, preparation of publicity materials, preparation of administrative and non-technical guidebooks, and probability audits. In 2023, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) procurement activities will be carried out, publicity, determination of the geospatial framework and wilkerstat content, officer training, complete enumeration, processing, quality monitoring, post enumeration survey, agricultural economic survey, processing of agricultural economic surveys, analysis of results , trials of agricultural production and environmental surveys, preparation of dissemination, and probability audits. Meanwhile, ST2023 activities during 2024 consist of ICT procurement activities, compiling geospatial information results from ST2023, agricultural production and environmental surveys, processing agricultural production and environmental surveys, dissemination, and probability audits.

The preparations carried out at BPS Sambas Regency include starting with Regional Instructor training which will be held on 20-23 February 2023 online via zoom meeting. Furthermore, BPS Sambas Regency also recruited ST2023 field officers on March 13-21 2023. ST2023 field officers consisted of Census Field Officers (PLS), Census Field Inspectors (PML), and Census Field Inspectors (Koseka). The number of ST2023 field officers is 587 officers consisting of 476 PLS, 95 PML and 16 Koseka. Field officer training was carried out on 15-31 May 2023, divided into 4 waves, namely wave 1 on 15-17 May 2023, wave 2 on 22-24 May 2023, wave 3 on 25-27 May 2023, and wave 4 on 29-31 May 2023. ST2023 field officer training was held at the Pantura Jaya Sambas Hotel. The 2023 Agricultural Census will be carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia from 1 June – 31 July 2023.
